Via Jezebel, this disgusting ad for an agency called Ashley Madison- whose slogan is “Life is Short. Have an Affair”. This makes me sick. As a married woman, a fucking decent person, and as someone who believes in full disclosure with my partner— ugh. This is gross.
And to top off the nasty work of the agency itself, slap on this horrible ad.
Most poignantly put by a commenter on the Jezebel post, this seems to be the idea that Ashley Madison is endorsing, oh wait, I’m sorry, marketing,
It’s okay to hurt people (who love you)… as long as they’re ugly [has apparently become a common theme in the world].
Yeah, good fucking point. The woman in this video, and apparently the very one that Ashley Madison can’t imagine this “poor guy” got tricked into being with- much less married- couldn’t possibly be worthy of a commitment (I mean, come on, she’s fat, to begin with!).
Ashley Madison, are you suggesting that it’s okay to cheat if you’re some sad sack who happened into a union with an “ugly” person? But, hey, men- if you married a skinny, non-snoring, “worthy” woman- than don’t apply here. Oh, and women- you couldn’t possibly be unsatisfied, right?
I’m by no means a marriage or monogamy purist- relationships work for people in all kinds of ways- open, kind-of-open (couple brings other people into their bed, but only together, never separately), only gay sex outside of a straight relationship, plain old monogamy, etc. There are a multitude of ways to make this sex, love and commitment thing work. And, I mean, what ever happened to just leaving your partner if you’re that miserable? Or, talk to them about it? Suggest a drunken threesome?
What I can’t get behind- is dishonesty. And even worse than that- selling it. That’s just fucked. Ashley Madison, you fucking suck.
