I have to admit, I didn’t know a ton about Joe Biden until yesterday, when I feverishly started researching his VP ass. I knew a few things… sure, he’s made some foot-in-the-mouth comments in the past, he’s been in the Senate since 1972, and well, he loves the ladies (and didn’t he once refer to his wife as “hot”? Word.)
I went to his website yesterday morning (after I didn’t get the text from Obama Mobile, what happened?! Instead I got the email… sad), and found these two pieces of info listed under his issues section, in the “Women” category. One…
Ending Violence Against Women: Senator Biden wrote the ground-breaking Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) in the 1990s that set the national agenda on criminalizing violence against women and holding batterers truly accountable. It encouraged states to set up coordinated community responses to domestic violence and rape; was the catalyst for passage of hundreds of state laws prohibiting family violence; and provided resources to set up shelters so battered women abused by husbands and boyfriends had a place to go.
Yeah, that’s the shit. And two…
Protecting Roe v. Wade: Senator Biden supports the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade that protects a woman’s right to choose. Believing family planning could help prevent many unwanted pregnancies, Senator Biden has consistently supported Title X – the nations’ family planning program - that provides information, services, support, and research for family planning.
Thank god! So many of these guys (and gals) will shy away from the issue entirely, especially in writing. Although it is the last thing in the “Women” section, which is the last section in his “Issues” category- I don’t care, because it’s there.
One thing, Joe. You really could use a new doo. The hair, man, it’s rough. But your foreign policy experience, stance on reproductive rights and the fact that you commute from Delaware to Washington DC on the train, those things are all incredibly awesome.
Well done, Barack. Well done.

I’ve never forgotten Biden’s work on the violence against women acts. I am happy to be able to vote for the ticket he’s on.
