One might have thought that as a youngin’ I would have identified with Blanche on The Golden Girls. She was slutty, crazy and had the most insane outfits (seems like a good fit). But, to be honest, it was Dorothy that I found a little of myself in. Bold, crass and classy- she was truly Jown (Jew-Own).

While working on a Saturday yesterday (thank god I’m leaving my day job), I found out from a friend that Bea Arthur had died at 86. I was (and am) devastated.

Looking at clips, pictures and quotes from Bea this morning, I stummbled across perhaps the most amazing quote, one that completely solidified my deep love for this woman and her amazing gumption and charisma,

After being in the business for such a long time, I’ve done everything but rodeo and porno. 

Amen, sister, yes you did. And I would have killed to see you in a rodeo. Porn, not so Jown. Let’s be real. 

You’ll be sadly missed, but those of us who find ourselves finally coming into our “Jown” will carry a little bit of you and Dorothy with us.
